Quilt, written and illustrated
by Jane Tenorio-Coscarelli, is a bilingual children's book set on a ranch in the 1880's. As the story unfolds, the reader becomes acquainted with Grandmother Lupita and her grandchild Maria. Maria, with the help of her grandmother, succeeds in making her very first quilt from flour sacks and old clothes. The book not only provides the heartwarming tale of Maria and her Grandmother Lupita, but also includes an easy to follow quilt pattern of the actual Tortilla Quilt and an age-old recipe for homemade tortillas. |
